Projects from the Heart
When I was making this heart-shaped stitch marker pouch for the February Block of the Month Prize, I wanted to use the tutorial from this pin. But. When I visited the site, it didn't go straight to the tutorial. It went to the page of ALL of her sewing tutorials. And. I didn't want to take the time to find the tutorial (when I get the chance to sew, I want to sew.....not search). I figured, how hard could it be to just wing it? It took a couple of tries, but I got a pouch I was pretty happy with.

What I'm Working On & Reading......
One of the best things hubby and I did last year (2014) was get our local library cards. I don't know why we hadn't done that before. But. we hadn't. We've really been enjoying all the books and CDs we've been checking out. Last week I found these two gems to check out. Canning for a New Generation by Liana Krissof and Canning and Preserving Without Sugar by Norma M. MacRae, R.D.

Dishcloth Distraction
I did not do one single, solitary stitch on the wedding afghan in August. This would have shot the whole block goal apart if it weren't for the fact that in July, I sort of overcompensated block-wise (and apparently that never made a blog post, who knew). I'm down to just 4 12-inch blocks and 7 (or was that 8?) 6-inch blocks.

Short Row Practice
Lately, I've been reading about knitters who are intimidated by short rows. Well, if you happen to be one of those knitters, I've found the pattern for you. Let me introduce The Almost Lost Washcloth by Julie Tarsha (LOVE her patterns!). It's the perfect way to practice short rows. I mean, who doesn't need a few more washcloths?
