Welted Pockets.....Done!

Last weekend, I made quite a bit of progress on the vest for hubby. By quite a bit of progress, I mean I got the welted pockets finished. Which wasn't easy. I started by tracing and reading the directions precisely as written. Yeah. Well, that didn't go well for me. Good thing I decided to save the extra fabric "just-in-case".

I ended up needing that fabric to re-cut new fronts. I also re-drafted the pockets and added about 1" above the top of the welt (the designer had only allowed 1/4"?). The amount of space between the top and bottom stitching line also wasn't wide enough to allow the welt to lay flat. I adjusted that as well. After making those adjustments, everything fell right into place. Although, now, looking at this photo, something doesn't look quite right.....I'm hoping it's the angle! I'm going to have to look at this closer. I sure hope I don't have to cut the front pieces AGAIN!

I hope your projects for 2015 are going better than this!

Happy sewing!

Lori
