Knit or Crochet Pink Squares for Breast Cancer Awareness
Even though October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, we at Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund (or JCCF) are knitting/crocheting pink squares in September to make into a blanket (maybe two?) that we will donate to be raffled to raise funds for research.
If we make the squares in September, it will give Wendy all of October to sew the blocks into a blanket (maybe blankets). So, if you've known anyone who is fighting (or has fought) this terrible disease and would like to help out......grab your hook or needles and some acrylic or washable (superwash) wool in any shade of pink/pinks and join us over at the Show us your Pink....Again forum and get stitchin'!
If you need some pattern suggestions....check out some of these:
For Crochet-
Basic Granny Square by Beverly A. Qualheim
Unholey Granny Square by Melinda Miller
Ribbons of Courage by April Moreland
For Knit (sorry, no photos, it just takes me so-o-o-o-o-o much longer to knit squares than crochet)-
Awareness Ribbons Chart by JCCF's own Jennifer Stubbs. This chart was actually designed as a 6-inch block that she combined with letters to form the word Hope. With some creativity you could do a lot to create a 12-inch square. Think 2 6-inch ribbons squares and 2 6-inch solid squares sewn together.
Mitered Square Afghan Project by Michele Bernstein
Learn to knit a Log Cabin Block by Staci Perry
JUST to name a few!
So join us in knitting/crocheting pink squares for the cause!
