Just Checking In

Can you believe it? Spring is almost here! Which leads us to the question....where have I been all winter? My last post was Christmas 2015. Almost 3 months have come and gone without a word.....that needs to change.

Woodsmoke

I started a new sweater. It's called Woodsmoke. It's a pattern I received from the Simply Notable Group (Thanks again ladies!).

I'm Not Getting Much Knitting Done....

I haven't mentioned any knitting projects for quite awhile now. I have been doing some knitting. Although, it is pretty limited. Right now, I'm working on this Crazy Magic Cowl by Susan Ashcroft. I've been knitting it in Lionbrand's  self-striping yarn - Amazing.

Block of the Month Prize Package for JCCF

I have to admit, I had a hard time coming up with a prize package for JCCF's August Block/Color of the Month. Then. I decided to make a couple of packages,  that might benefit JCCF's future projects.

Scrappy ZickZack Scarf Finished!

YAY! The Scrappy ZickZack Scarf is done! Just a little over 7 months to complete. Which sounds like a LO-O-O-O-O-O-NG time. But. Keep in mind, my busy gardening season at work was in those 7 months and not a lot of knitting gets done during that time.

Waves of Grain Hat (update)

It's come to my attention that one of my free patterns is no longer available on Dropbox (the site I used to store my PDF's). AND. Actually after checking, NONE of my free patterns are available on Dropbox. Why? No one knows. Actually, to be accurate, someone probably knows, but it isn't me.....

Happy July 4th, 2015

I wanted to pop in and wish everyone a fun and SAFE 4th of July! And. Because it's the 4th, once again, sharing my red, white and blue project bag. A prize for someone who crochets a 12-inch block for JCCF. For more details, see this post.

Knitting or Crocheting with Red, White and Blue

It's the first day of July and it's time to get started knitting or crocheting 12-inch blocks for JCCF. The blocks are used to create blankets to comfort injured rodeo athletes through the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund. This month's color of the month is red, white and blue. I'm not going to lie, these are probably my favorite colors to knit or crochet blocks for JCCF with.

Let the Gift Knitting Begin.....

June is here (seriously, how did THAT happen?) and over at the Simply Notable Group, we're going to start our Christmas gift knitting. EVERY year I swear I'm going to start the gift knitting in January. And, about October, I get motivated to get started on it......Yeah, that's right, I start a bunch of projects and I STILL have to buy presents!

Just Checkin' In

I thought I should check in and let you all know what I've been up to. Mostly, the entire month of May, I've been up to my eyeballs in plants (at work , that is). May is SUPER busy with buying plants, unloading plants, selling plants AND figuring out ways to keep the (thousands of) plants from freezing when we have cold nights. It's EXHAUSTING! Needless to say, there hasn't been much knitting or crocheting (or sewing, or, well, basically anything creative......) going on.

Projects from the Heart

When I was making this heart-shaped stitch marker pouch for the February Block of the Month Prize, I wanted to use the tutorial from this pin. But. When I visited the site, it didn't go straight to the tutorial. It went to the page of ALL of her sewing tutorials. And. I didn't want to take the time to find the tutorial (when I get the chance to sew, I want to sew.....not search). I figured, how hard could it be to just wing it? It took a couple of tries, but I got a pouch I was pretty happy with.

An Invitation to Crochet with JCCF

I've been working on this Simple Filet Crochet Starburst Square for JCCF. Maybe you're wondering, what IS JCCF? We're a group that knit or crochet 12-inch blocks that will be made into blankets to give comfort to injured rodeo athletes.

What I'm Working On & Reading......

One of the best things hubby and I did last year (2014) was get our local library cards. I don't know why we hadn't done that before. But. we hadn't. We've really been enjoying all the books and CDs we've been checking out. Last week I found these two gems to check out. Canning for a New Generation by Liana Krissof and Canning and Preserving Without Sugar by Norma M. MacRae, R.D.

ZickZacking Along

In case you read yesterday's post, I should mention.
  1. I kind of panicked looking at the photo. It looked like I might have to start over on the fronts. And.
  2. I've been sick, so I might have been delirious.
That said, I checked and everything seems fine on the vest. The pockets are a little higher than hubby's other vest, but not EXTREMELY high like the photo makes them look. Anyway, enough about the vest. Let's talk about ZickZack scarves!

Happy New Year 2015!

This is my MAIN goal for 2015! I have until May 1st to get this wedding afghan completed. AND. I'm really, REALLY close. 3 12-inch blocks, 7 6-inch blocks. Sew together some of the strips and a border is all that's left!  Of course, if you've ready any of these posts here, here & here you know I MIGHT have a problem staying on track and getting things finished. So......you know what I've GOT to be working on!

ZickZack Scarf KAL

It's almost here! 2015! What have I been doing to get ready? Cleaning and sorting. I'm not sure why this time of year seems like the perfect time to do this. Maybe, because the New year seems like a fresh start?

2014 Knitting Review

A few days before Christmas, I started this top-down Cables and Ribs beanie. I've been having some gauge issues with my knitting and I wasn't going to start a new knitting project until AFTER Christmas. That way I could concentrate on being able to fix the problem. Then I got to thinking that I only seem to have gauge issues with fingering weight yarn (not so much with worsted). So, I went ahead and cast-on this beanie.

I Just Don't Have "THYME" for This!

Remember this post? Where I enlightened you about the doily beanie project I was obsessed with. The project where I was congratulating myself about how it was turning out just as I envisioned despite the Christmas knitting time quickly vanishing before my very eyes.
