Preserving the Herb Harvest

If you grow your own herbs (and if you don't......you NEED to start!), here's a list of some fabulous ways I've found to preserve your herb harvest. They're easy. The aroma of working with fresh herbs is amazing. And. When you're done you will have some fabulous products to use in your own cooking or to give away as gifts. What's better than that?!?!?

Preserving the Herb Harvest - Drying Herbs

Another easy way to preserve herbs is to dry them. There are several methods you can use to dry herbs. Choose your favorite and get those herbs drying. You won't regret it this winter when you have home-grown herbs to cook with (or use in tea)!

Preserving the Herb Harvest - Herbed Vinegar

Another super easy way to preserve your herb harvest is by making Herbed vinegars. I've been making herbed vinegars off and on for years now. They're simple to make and fun to use.

Preserving the Herb Harvest - Herbed Salt

I enjoy growing herbs. Due to their strong fragrance, most are deer/critter resistant (well, except basil....deer LOVE it). The best part about herbs is the MANY ways you can use them.

Let the Gift Knitting Begin.....

June is here (seriously, how did THAT happen?) and over at the Simply Notable Group, we're going to start our Christmas gift knitting. EVERY year I swear I'm going to start the gift knitting in January. And, about October, I get motivated to get started on it......Yeah, that's right, I start a bunch of projects and I STILL have to buy presents!

Crazy Simple Fudge

If you read this post where I rambled on about sweetened condensed milk (and the lack of it), then you will already know that this must be the fudge I was talking about making. I absolutely LOVE this recipe! It's ALMOST foolproof. I say ALMOST because I can mess up just about any recipe depending on any number of variables. BUT. It's so close to foolproof (and FAST) that I'm going to share it with you today.

Now It's Crunch Time

Yesterday was my day off. And. It was a flurry of activity around here. Last minute sewing and baking. Enough to finish off the three potted trees (seen above and mentioned in this post and this post) and three plates of holiday goodies to go with. Oh yeah, and deliver.

Kandy Kane Kahlua

Recently I saw this post for making Candy Cane Vodka. M-m-m-m-m-m-m. It sounded so good. I've also been wanting to make some Kahlua for some gifts. I got to thinking.....wouldn't adding candy canes to the Kahlua be good? So. That's just what I did!

Super Quick Stocking Ornament

I've been working away on lots of little ornaments to decorate small (1 gallon) live potted trees as gifts for some friends and neighbors. I've already completed (and given away) one tree and I have to tell you, I was pretty happy with it (and it was really well received by the recipient, too).

Dress Up Some Spirits

Thanksgiving is almost here. THEN. Right behind it.....Christmas! If you're like me, you know you're going to need some hostess/host gifts. Just a little something for the person who's hosting Thanksgiving or one of the many Christmas get-togethers.

Dishcloth Distraction

I did not do one single, solitary stitch on the wedding afghan in August. This would have shot the whole block goal apart if it weren't for the fact that in July, I sort of overcompensated block-wise (and apparently that never made a blog post, who knew). I'm down to  just 4 12-inch blocks and 7 (or was that 8?) 6-inch blocks.

Short Row Practice

Lately, I've been reading about knitters who are intimidated by short rows. Well, if you happen to be one of those knitters, I've found the pattern for you. Let me introduce The Almost Lost Washcloth by Julie Tarsha (LOVE her patterns!). It's the perfect way to practice short rows. I mean, who doesn't need a few more washcloths?

My Valentine Gift to You

I've been knitting hats lately. Lots and lots of hats! Some people are sock knitters. I'm a hat knitter. I LOVE how quickly they knit up. They make great gifts too. Who doesn't need a hat?

A Quick Knit You'll LOVE!

Recently I had the opportunity to test knit the I Heart Tawashis pattern by Julie Tarsha from Simply Notable. It's another fabulous pattern by Julie! Very quick to knit too.
