What can I say about Salvia (Salvia patens)? It's AMAZING! A deep, intense blue bloom. This variety is called May Knight. AND. It's stunning!
Salvia meets all the requirements to survive in my garden. Cold winter tolerant. Deer (and critter) resistant. Low maintenance (just cut off the spent blooms when it's done blooming). AND. Drought tolerant once it is well established. Since we're in another year of severe drought here in the west, that's become an important quality for gardeners lately. Salvia does best in full sun or a little light shade during the hot part of the day (well, don't we all).
So, if you're looking for a beautiful blue perennial for your landscape or garden, this could be exactly what you're looking for!
Happy Gardening!
